Eén van de vergeten juweeltjes uit de geschiedenis van de popmuziek. The Faces met een illustere bezetting. Rod Stewart zorgt voor de eeuwig rauwe stem en Ron Wood tovert een heel arsenaal aan gitaargeluiden tevoorschijn. Hij speelt 'Lead guitar, Slide guitar en Pedal steel guitar'. De LP klinkt alsof hij in zijn geheel is opgenomen in één of andere duistere pub in een vergeten industriestadje in Engeland. Niets is minder waar, het meeste is studiowerk met een wel heer erg duidelijke live-feel.
Rock, blues en ballads, dat is wat je krijgt. Rod Stewart is op de top van zijn kunnen (vergeet al die andere shit van hem) en Ron Wood varëert van scheurend hard tot zo mooi en subtiel op slide en steel ( zoals in Richmond). Bobby Keyes, ja,ja, die van de Stones, scheurt er hartverscheurend op los.
De track die ik gekozen heb is een Paul McCartney nummer. Ik heb het nooit van hem gehoord maar na deze versie hoeft dat ook ook helemaal niet. Die stem van McCartney kennen we wel. Het is een liefdesliedje, bitterzoet en bluesy en hard natuurlijk. Afijn luister zelf maar. Het is live from The Filmore, NY. met een intro van Rod Stewart:
